Guangdong Hotel in Shenzhen Luohu: Classic Stay Near Dongmen With City Views & Great Convenience

Guys, I honestly didn’t expect to find such a long-established, classic hotel hidden in Luohu’s Dongmen area. 🏨

The name of the hotel is Guangdong Hotel. It was built in 1988 and renovated in 2013.

Do you know what Shenzhen was like back in 1988? Shenzhen was still in the early stages of its rapid development following China’s Reform and Opening Up. So, a hotel established during that period could be considered a relatively luxurious and high-standard place at the time.

🌲Environment

The exterior may look fairly ordinary at first glance, but once you step inside, some of the design details are quite impressive.

The hotel used to be a popular choice among international travelers, especially visitors from Japan. That’s probably why you can still spot Japanese translations on various signs around the hotel. Many of the signs are bilingual, which makes the hotel particularly convenient and visitor-friendly for international guests. 👍

🍃 Stay Experience

We booked a king-bed room, and to our surprise, the window offered a great view over the entire Dongmen area. Opening the curtains in the morning and seeing the city outside was such a lovely moment.

Here are some of the little details I noticed during our stay:

• The bed was clean and very comfortable (we only remembered to take photos after messing it up 😅)

  

• The disposable slippers were thick and sturdy — not the flimsy paper‑thin, cheap kind you sometimes get in many hotels.

  

• The hair dryer and toilet were from well‑known brands, and the toilet was fully smart with a heated seat 🚽

  

• The shower water pressure was strong, and hot water came instantly 🛁

The soundproofing was excellent, we slept straight until 11 a.m. Plus, the hotel allows late checkout until 2 p.m., which is a huge bonus 👍

⚠️ The only downside: since this is an older hotel, some of the furniture has a slightly aged smell. It wasn’t a major issue, but it did affect the overall experience a little.

📚 Overall Experiences

Overall, we had a very comfortable stay. 🥰

The room was comfortable, the soundproofing was excellent, the facilities were better than I expected, and the late checkout was a huge bonus. I also really enjoyed the slightly old-school atmosphere of the hotel — it feels like a place with a lot of history behind it.

The location is another major advantage.

There’s a bus stop right downstairs, while the metro station is only a few hundred meters away. The hotel is also conveniently located between Dongmen Pedestrian Street and King Glory Plaza, so it’s easy to go shopping, grab food, or simply explore the area.

And if you’re coming from Hong Kong, the location is especially convenient. Te hotel is relatively close to the border and only a few metro stops away from Hong Kong.

For travelers who enjoy classic hotels with a bit of history, as well as a convenient location for exploring Luohu, I think Guangdong Hotel is definitely worth considering.
