Mi Bookstore in Shenzhen Luohu: Stunning Two‑Floor Photogenic Bookstore at Yitian Holiday Plaza

Cheryl Kong | 2026-08-24

This Mi Bookstore is one of those places I kept seeing online because of its incredibly photogenic interior. I had seen plenty of people sharing photos of the space and this store became quite a hype for a period of time. To be honest, Shenzhen is a city with no shortage of beautiful bookstores, so simply having an impressive interior isn't necessarily enough to make a bookstore worth visiting. so I eventually decided to visit it myself and find out whether it was actually worth the hype.

📍 Practical Information

Name of the Shop: Mi Bookstore

Location: 4th floor of Yitian Holiday Plaza, Luohu

Nearest Metro Station: 翠竹站B2口 Line2, Cuizhu Station, Exit B2

Opening Hours: 10:00–22:00

📖 First Impressions

The moment you walk in, the first thing that catches your attention is the sheer scale of the space. The bookstore spans two floors, with walls covered almost from floor to ceiling in books and large geometric shelves creating a very distinctive visual effect.

When I visited, I also noticed many children sitting on the floor reading, while dedicated reading areas were available nearby. This gives the bookstore a relaxed and lively atmosphere.

☕ Extra Facilities

There is also a small café and beverage bar inside the bookstore, so you can grab a drink and spend some time reading, studying, or working here. 💻

There are also several areas selling cultural and creative merchandise. However, I wouldn't say this part is particularly special, as the selection feels fairly similar to what you might find in other large bookstores.

However, there is one important downside. If your main purpose is to browse and buy books, I wouldn't consider this one of the best bookstores in Shenzhen.

A large proportion of the collection appears to be aimed at children and teenagers, and some sections were not particularly well organized when I visited. So while the bookstore looks impressive, the actual book-shopping experience doesn't quite match the visual appeal of the space.

📚Overall Experience

So, is Mi Bookstore worth visiting? I would say yes, but mainly for the atmosphere, architecture, and photography rather than the book-shopping experience.

It's a lovely place to visit with friends or a bestie on the weekend, especially if you want somewhere to read, relax, take photos, and spend a couple of hours indoors. The café and surrounding food options also make it easy to turn the visit into a longer afternoon outing.

However, if you're coming specifically to discover a wide selection of books or shop for more specialized titles, I'd probably recommend looking elsewhere. Many of the books are aimed at younger readers, and the organization could be better.

In short: come for the beautiful space and atmosphere, but don't expect it to be the ultimate book-shopping destination.
