Yangang Night Market in Shenzhen Yantian: Stunning Port‑View Street Food Spot

There are plenty of places to enjoy the night view in Shenzhen, but there aren’t many where you can look out over Yantian Port from such a cinematic perspective. That’s exactly why I have to recommend Yangang Night Market if you’re looking for something a little different.

Located on a hillside overlooking Yantian Port, the night market offers a spectacular view of the sparkling lights below. With the winding road, the glowing port, and the lights stretching into the distance, the whole scene feels almost like a movie 🎬.

And of course, there’s more than just the view. You’ll also find plenty of food, drinks, and little games along the way, making this a fun place to spend a weekend

🚗 Transportation Guide

There is no direct metro or bus access, so driving is probably the most convenient option.

1. Drive directly up to the night market.There is a road leading all the way up to the top, and roadside parking is usually available on weekdays.

Or you can take a taxi up there, so there's no need to worry about parking lot.

2. Park nearby and take a motorcycle taxi. 🏍️This is another option, although I personally don’t find it particularly safe. The motorcycle taxis we saw did not provide helmets for passengers.

The first time we visited, we didn’t realize that cars could actually drive all the way up, so we parked at a nearby parking lot instead. The motorcycle taxi cost RMB 35 for the ride up and RMB 20 for the ride back down.

So, if you’re driving, I’d definitely recommend checking the road first rather than assuming you have to park at the bottom.

🍢 Food Guide

Once you get to the night market, there are plenty of things to eat and drink. Most of the better seating areas are associated with individual vendors, so you’ll generally need to order something from them if you want to sit there.

You’ll find plenty of classic night-market favorites, including:

• Barbecue

• Milk tea

• Oden 🍢

• Instant noodles 🍜

• Various late-night snacks

One thing to keep in mind is that the food here is noticeably more expensive than at a typical restaurant or neighborhood night market. I assume part of the reason is the location on the hillside, but it’s still something to keep in mind when ordering.

🎡 Things to Do

You won’t have much trouble finding your way around. Just follow the path uphill until you reach a milk tea shop called “Grandpa’s Tea,” which is basically where the path ends.

The night market is located beneath an elevated road, with more food stalls appearing as you walk uphill. Along the way, you’ll also find small game stalls where you can try things like ring toss and balloon shooting.

But for me, the best thing to do here is simply find a comfortable spot, sit down, chat, and enjoy the breeze while looking out over Yantian Port. The atmosphere is relaxed and surprisingly romantic, especially at night. 👍

If you’re driving, though, you can actually continue beyond the night market and follow the road all the way to the end. There’s a school at the very end, which isn’t open to visitors, but the road in front of it is quite wide. We noticed quite a few people parking their cars there overnight, presumably to stay and watch the sunrise.

We even saw groups of friends setting up small tables nearby, making tea, and enjoying some quiet time together. 🍵 It does look like a nice way to spend an evening or wait for sunrise, although personally, I wouldn’t recommend setting up directly on the grass. The grass is there to enjoy, but I don’t think it should be used as a picnic area or walked all over.

📚 Overall Review

I really enjoyed my time at Yangang Night Market. We stayed for more than an hour, mainly enjoying the night view and the relaxing atmosphere.

For me, the view is definitely the main attraction, rather than the food. The snacks are convenient but relatively expensive, while the hillside view of Yantian Port feels peaceful and cinematic. 🌃

If you’re driving, you can also continue to the end of the road, where some people stay overnight to watch the sunrise. It’s a nice little bonus if you have the time.

Overall, I think it’s worth a visit if you’re already exploring Yantian and want somewhere different to enjoy the evening. Just don’t expect a typical food market, the scenery is what makes this place special. 👍
