New Shopping Mall at Shenzhen Luohu Checkpoint: Beauty & Dining Spots Opposite Shangri‑La Hotel

Cheryl Kong | 2026-08-25

A new shopping mall has recently opened in Luohu. I only happened to find out about it because I came here for a meal, so we decided to have a look around and see what this new mall had to offer.

📍 Practical Information

Name of the Shopping Mall: Dachonghua Maoye Tiandi (大中华茂业天地)

Location: 深圳市罗湖区人民南路1008号环球经贸广场101;Unit 101, Global Trade Plaza, 1008 Renmin South Road, Luohu District, Shenzhen(directly opposite the Shangri‑La Hotel)

Nearest Metro Station: 1号线罗湖站E2口;Luohu Station, Line 1 — Exit E2

Opening Hours: 10:00–22:00

💁 Although the mall is still in the process of bringing in more tenants, many shops are already open.
💆‍♀️ About two‑thirds of the stores are beauty‑related: hair washing, massage, skincare, and wellness services. The remaining one‑third are food and beverage shops. So if you're looking for fashion stores or general shopping, this probably isn't the place to come for.

The mall isn’t very large, but the bright lighting makes the entire space feel clean and airy.

🍽️ Dining Options

The top two floors are mainly dedicated to food and dining, with several restaurants that may already be familiar to Shenzhen locals.

🛍️ Shops & Future Openings

Some stores were still under renovation when I visited, including Hotmaxx, a popular retailer known for selling discounted short-dated food and other products, along with several other businesses. So the mall will probably become livelier once more tenants move in.

For visitors coming from Hong Kong, the location is certainly convenient — Luohu Station is right outside the mall, making it an easy stop if you're already in the area. However, I would say this mall is mainly aimed at neighbourhoods and people passing through, rather than tourists looking for a destination worth traveling across Shenzhen to visit.

📚 Overall Experience

This place is really only suitable for locals or people passing by. If you’re visiting Shenzhen as a tourist, there’s no real need to come here. The mall doesn’t offer anything particularly special, nor does it have any standout attractions.

The outside of the mall is surrounded by construction barriers, which makes the overall appearance less appealing. On top of that, it was raining the day we visited, and I almost slipped on the floor right at the main entrance.

I actually visited again in early August 2026, and there were a few changes. The side entrance had already been closed, making access slightly less convenient. I also found the air conditioning inside the mall to be quite inadequate, and the overall temperature felt noticeably hot and uncomfortable.

Hopefully, these issues will improve as the mall continues to develop and more stores open.

🧑‍⚖️Final verdict:

Location ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Dining Options ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Shopping ⭐⭐⭐
Facilities ⭐⭐⭐½
Tourist Appeal ⭐⭐½
Value ⭐⭐⭐½
Overall ⭐⭐⭐½
