Holiland is a well-known bakery brand in China, but interestingly, its early popularity wasn't entirely about how good its cakes tasted. The brand became famous online partly because of its attractive, stylish staff, especially the good-looking young men and women working in its stores.
So when I found out that Holiland had opened a new branch in King Glory Plaza near my workplace, I obviously couldn't resist stopping by. After hearing about the brand for so long, I finally wanted to find out for myself: are the cakes and pastries actually as good as the hype? 🍰
📍 Practical Information
Name of the Shop: Holliland (好利来)
Location: B2 Floor, King Glory Plaza, Luohu District, Shenzhen
Nearest Metro Station: Exit C, Guomao Station, Line 1
Price: ¥30 per person
Opening Hours: 10:00–22:00

🏬 Environment
The glass display cases are filled with freshly baked bread and pastries, and everything is presented neatly and attractively. 🍞
One thing that caught my attention was the large wall displaying custom-designed cakes 🍰, which are available to order for birthdays and other special occasions. Some of the designs are quite eye-catching and would definitely make a nice centerpiece for a celebration.
More interestingly, Holiland regularly collaborates with popular IPs and releases limited-edition products. As of August 26th, 2026, the brand is collaborating with Super Mario, featuring a collection of incredibly cute themed cakes. 🍄🎂
If you're a fan of these character collaborations, it's definitely worth checking out what they have in store during your visit — the designs can be much more fun and playful than the usual cakes.

💁 Service
Holiland is often praised online for its attractive staff and attentive service, but personally, I wouldn't say anything particularly memorable happened during my visit. It was simply smooth and efficient, which is perfectly fine for this type of bakery.

🍮 Food Review
This time, I tried the caramel crispy cream puffs. A box contains four pieces and costs just ¥15, making it an easy little treat to pick up.

The outside is lightly crispy, while the inside is soft and airy. The caramel adds sweetness and fragrance, but the cream filling itself is relatively light and not overly sweet, so the overall taste doesn't feel too heavy.
One small thing to note: they can get quite crumbly when you bite into them. The crispy coating flakes off easily, so I'd recommend holding a napkin or something underneath unless you want crumbs everywhere.

📚 Overall Experience
Overall, my first experience with Holiland was good, but not particularly memorable.
The cream puffs were tasty, affordable, and convenient for a quick afternoon treat, but I wouldn't say they were impressive enough to make me specifically travel to Holiland just for them. It's also worth mentioning that this isn't one of the brand's most heavily promoted or iconic products, so I don't think it's necessarily representative of what Holiland does best.
I'll probably give it another try next time and go for one of the products that the brand is better known for, especially their cakes and pastries. I've heard quite a lot of praise for their pecan cake, so that's probably going to be my next choice. 🍰
For now, I'd say it's a solid option if you're already in the area and want a small dessert or some bread to take home, but I wouldn't consider it a must-visit destination in Shenzhen.
