Guangxi-Style BBQ in Shenzhen: Unique Grilled Beef Skewers & Sweet-and-Sour Noodles

As someone from Guangdong, I always assumed that BBQ across China was pretty much the same, with the main differences being whether it was spicy and what ingredients were used. But my recent visit to this Guangxi-style BBQ restaurant completely changed my mind and opened my eyes to a whole new world of regional flavors.

Recently, See You Earth (再见地球) seems to be getting really popular! This drink shop specializes in fresh fruit juice, lemon tea, Americano coffee, and much more. Its menu is also incredibly extensive — this was actually the first time I had seen a menu that filled two entire pages! Today, I’m trying a few of its signature drinks to see what they’re like.

Wu Zhuang Jiangsu & Zhejiang Cuisine at Yitian Holiday Plaza Pingshan, Shenzhen

To be honest, I rarely come to Pingshan. Most of the time, I only come here when my friends bring me, mainly because it’s quite far from the central areas of Shenzhen. Today was no exception—I came here because my bestie brought me along.

Yudu Laowei Seafood Noodles at Zhuoyue Center: A Review of the New Noodle Shop

There’s a new noodle shop on B2 of One Avenue ! When I first noticed the restaurant, I saw “Michelin” featured prominently in its advertising. To be honest, I initially assumed it was just a marketing gimmick. But I later heard that the restaurant has actually received Michelin recognition in Shanghai, which made me curious to see whether it could still live up to that reputation after coming to Guangdong.

Yeah Gelato in Dongmen: Smooth Pistachio Flavor & Holiday Deal Review

Cheryl Kong | 2026-09-12

I finally got to try Yeah Gelato! To be honest, I’d been seeing this ice cream brand advertised all over Shenzhen for quite a while. The advertising was everywhere, but the price always felt a little too high for me. Without any discounts, a single serving can cost around ¥38, which is pretty wild considering that it’s already getting close to the price of some luxury ice cream brands. So I never really got around to trying it.

But the funny thing is, Yeah Gelato frequently runs promotions, and sometimes the deals are incredibly generous. There are even occasions when they give away free ice cream! During the May Day holiday, for example, there was a special promotion where you could get a serving for just ¥0.01, so of course I grabbed the deal right away 😜

They also often have buy-one-get-one-free promotions after 8 or 9 PM, so if you happen to be around in the evening, it’s definitely worth checking whether there’s a deal going on.

There are quite a few branches around Shenzhen, so I visited the one inside Sun Department Store in Dongmen. The store opens at 10:00 AM, so don’t make the mistake of arriving too early!

📍 Practical Information

Name of the Shop: 野人先生; Yeah Gelato

Location: 深圳市罗湖区东门太阳百货1楼;1st Floor, Sun Department Store, Dongmen, Luohu District, Shenzhen

Nearest Metro Station: 1号线老街站C口;Line 1 Laojie Station, Exit C

Price: ¥30 per person

Opening Hours: 10:00–21:30

One thing I really liked is that you can try the ice cream for free before buying it. So if you’re not sure which flavor to choose, you can simply ask the staff for a sample and see which one you like best.

There were several flavors available when I visited, including mango, rice, and pistachio. I decided to go with the pistachio flavor in a cup. The staff sprinkled some pistachio powder on top and even gave me a little round paper pad to catch the crumbs. This is very considerate.

And honestly, it was pretty delicious! The gelato was incredibly smooth and creamy, while the little bits of nuts added a nice texture. The sweetness was also fairly light and refreshing rather than overly rich or heavy, which I really enjoyed.

You can choose between a cone or a corn cup. And yes, the corn cup really is made from corn, but it isn’t actually edible! Somehow, people online have turned this into a bit of a running joke, with many people pretending to take a bite anyway. 😆

📚Overall experience

After finally trying it, I can see why Yeah Gelato has become so popular . The gelato itself is kind of tasty, and I’m especially curious about the rice flavor, since it’s not one I come across very often.

I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to have it regularly. At around ¥30–38 without a promotion, it’s still a little expensive for an everyday treat, especially for people on an ordinary working budget.

One more thing to keep in mind is that the Dongmen branch I visited has very limited seating, so it’s more of a grab-and-go spot. You may have to enjoy your gelato while walking around Dongmen rather than sitting down and taking your time.
