😇 If you live in Luohu, you've probably heard of Tang Palace (唐宫), a long-established and well-known traditional Cantonese restaurant famous for dim sum in Dongmen. 💁
I went there with my family a few times when I was a child, and it was always packed with people. We usually had to wait in a long queue. Now that I'm older, I finally had a chance to visit again and see how the food tastes after all these years.
📍 Practical Information
Name of the Restaurant: Tang Palace(唐宫)
Location: 6th Floor, Zhonghai Mall, No. 1 Xinyuan Road, Dongmen, Luohu, Shenzhen
Nearest Metro Station: Laojie Station, Exit F
Price: ¥80 per person
Opening Hours: 08:30–21:30

🌿 Environment
The interior doesn't seem to have changed much over the years. It still has the somewhat old-fashioned style of a traditional Cantonese restaurant.
As you can see in my photos, the dining area is spacious and open, with good airflow, so it is still quite comfortable to sit and have a meal.

🍵 Food Experience
🏆 Signature Roasted Pigeon
The moment I bit into it, the rich juices really burst out, which showed that the pigeon had been carefully selected and expertly prepared. The meat was fatty, tender, and flavorful, so I could understand why this is one of their signature dishes. It was so delicious! I highly recommend trying it if you decide to visit this restaurant. They have several branches around Shenzhen, so you can check which location is most convenient for your itinerary.
Generally, one person wouldn’t eat a whole pigeon by themselves. The restaurant usually cuts it in half or into quarters for sharing, and provides gloves and salt on the side.

✅ Fried Dim Sum Platter
My favorite was the deep-fried glutinous rice dumpling with savory filling (咸水角). It had a nice balance of savory and sweet flavors, with a slightly chewy exterior and a soft, sticky filling.
However, the whole platter was a uniform golden-yellow color and wasn't particularly attractive visually. The other fried dim sum items were just average in terms of taste.

✅ Steamed Dim Sum Platter
The platter included har gow, siu mai, and fen guo. The siu mai and har gow were pretty good, with substantial and springy fillings.
I personally don't really like fen guo, though, so I won't give an opinion on that one.

🍲 Boat Congee (I Think)
The portion was slightly small, but I actually thought it was just right. There was roughly enough for three people to have one bowl each.
The cooking was well handled, and the congee was thick, savory, and comforting. It was especially nice and warming to eat.

📚 Overall Experience
Overall, I thought the food was pretty good. Compared with the newer styles of Cantonese dim sum that have become popular in recent years, Tang Palace may lack some of the surprise and creativity of more modern restaurants.
However, the food is still solid and dependable. I think it's a nice place to visit with your family on the weekend, especially if you're looking for traditional Cantonese dim sum in Dongmen. ❤️
