Guangxi-Style BBQ in Shenzhen: Unique Grilled Beef Skewers & Sweet-and-Sour Noodles

As someone from Guangdong, I always assumed that BBQ across China was pretty much the same, with the main differences being whether it was spicy and what ingredients were used. But my recent visit to this Guangxi-style BBQ restaurant completely changed my mind and opened my eyes to a whole new world of regional flavors.

To be honest, I rarely come to Pingshan. Most of the time, I only come here when my friends bring me, mainly because it’s quite far from the central areas of Shenzhen. Today was no exception—I came here because my bestie brought me along.

There’s a new noodle shop on B2 of One Avenue ! When I first noticed the restaurant, I saw “Michelin” featured prominently in its advertising. To be honest, I initially assumed it was just a marketing gimmick. But I later heard that the restaurant has actually received Michelin recognition in Shanghai, which made me curious to see whether it could still live up to that reputation after coming to Guangdong.

Taiwan Huajia Wang at MixC World Shenzhen: Affordable Clam Rice Noodles

Cheryl Kong | 2026-10-07

😇 If you're visiting Shenzhen MixC World but don't want to spend too much on food, don't worry! I actually found a very affordable food option here with great value for money. ❗

The restaurant is located inside the food court, where there are plenty of public seats to choose from. There are also many different food options available. Today, I decided to try the Clam Rice Noodles, or Hua Jia Fen (花甲粉), at Taiwan Huajia Wang.

If you've never heard of Clam Rice Noodles before, you're definitely not alone. It is generally believed to have originated in Sichuan or Chongqing, and the dish is traditionally prepared by placing ingredients such as seafood, rice noodles, and vegetables in a foil packet and cooking them sealed over heat. This cooking method is said to help preserve the ingredients' fresh flavors. Hua Jia Fen has since become a popular dish across China.

📍 Practical Information

Name of the Store: Taiwan Huajia Wang(台湾花甲王)
Location: SL529, 5th Floor, Food Court, Shenzhen MixC World
Nearest Metro Station: Gaoxin Park Station — about a 400-meter walk from Exit A
Price: Around RMB 30 per person
Opening Hours: 09:00–22:00

🌲 The Restaurant

The restaurant is located toward the left side of the food court. The menu has quite a few options, including original and spicy flavors, and you can also add ingredients such as squid and fresh shrimp.

Besides the main dishes, there are also some pastries and drinks available. With a set meal, some options can cost just over RMB 30 when using a Dianping voucher.

🍜 What I Tried

Today, I ordered the Original Clam Rice Noodle Set, which included a bowl of Clam Rice Noodles, osmanthus cake, and a bottle of Coke.

🍝 Original Clam Rice Noodles

I chose the non-spicy version, so the flavor was particularly light and refreshing. The bowl came with tomatoes, vegetables, enoki mushrooms, flower clams, and noodles, giving it a fresh and savory taste.

There were also quite a lot of flower clams—around 20 in total—and their size was pretty decent.

🍰 Osmanthus Cake

The osmanthus cake was actually a pleasant surprise. The steaming time seemed to be quite long, as we didn't receive it until we had almost finished the Hua Jia Fen.

There were two pieces in total. They were soft and chewy without being overly sweet, and I honestly felt like I could have eaten a few more.

📚 Overall Experience

Overall, I had a pretty good experience with the food. The portion of the set meal was generous and satisfying, so I would definitely recommend it. 👍

I think Clam Rice Noodles is especially nice to have in winter. It’s fresh, light, and warming, although you can of course add different seasonings, chili, and other ingredients if you prefer stronger flavors. It’s also a great option if you’re traveling around Shenzhen on a budget—the price is low, but the portion is filling enough to keep you going.

It’s also very convenient because after having a filling meal, you can simply continue exploring MixC World. ❤️
