To be honest, I rarely come to Pingshan. Most of the time, I only come here when my friends bring me, mainly because it’s quite far from the central areas of Shenzhen. Today was no exception—I came here because my bestie brought me along.

Yudu Laowei Seafood Noodles at Zhuoyue Center: A Review of the New Noodle Shop

There’s a new noodle shop on B2 of One Avenue ! When I first noticed the restaurant, I saw “Michelin” featured prominently in its advertising. To be honest, I initially assumed it was just a marketing gimmick. But I later heard that the restaurant has actually received Michelin recognition in Shanghai, which made me curious to see whether it could still live up to that reputation after coming to Guangdong.

Guangxi-Style BBQ in Shenzhen: Unique Grilled Beef Skewers & Sweet-and-Sour Noodles

Cheryl Kong | 2026-10-18

As someone from Guangdong, I always assumed that BBQ across China was pretty much the same, with the main differences being whether it was spicy and what ingredients were used. But my recent visit to this Guangxi-style BBQ restaurant completely changed my mind and opened my eyes to a whole new world of regional flavors.

🗺️ The restaurant is located directly opposite Four Seasons Coconut Grove (四季椰林椰子鸡). Just head into the Shibanjie(石板街) area and turn left to find it.

📍 Practical Information

  • Name of the Shop: Lei‘s Place (雷老板家·雪花牛烧烤)

  • Location: Shenye Dongling, No. 9 Huangbeiling 3rd Road, Luohu District, Shenzhen

  • Nearest Metro Station: Huangbeiling Station (Line 2), approximately a 500-meter walk

  • Price: Around ¥80 per person

  • Opening Hours: 5:00 PM–2:00 AM

🌹 Atmosphere & Interior

The restaurant blends several different design styles. There’s a counter that resembles the setup of a Japanese yakitori restaurant, with a row of handwritten menu items hanging overhead. The space also features traditional Chinese-style round tables, with seating options for couples, groups of four, and even larger parties of seven or eight.

Overall, the interior is attractive and comfortable, with a pleasant atmosphere that makes dining here enjoyable.

🙌 Service

The service was very welcoming and attentive. The staff proactively asked about our flavor preferences, which was helpful because Guangxi-style BBQ tends to lean sweet, although there are also options for people who prefer more savory flavors.

When the dishes were served, the staff also used special covers to protect the food from dust and help retain its heat. It was a thoughtful detail that showed good attention to the dining experience.

🍛 Food Review

🍢 One thing I have to say: the grilled skewers here look genuinely impressive! They come out beautifully cooked, with vibrant colors that make them look incredibly appetizing.

🏆 Guangxi-Style Raw Beef Skewers

If you want to try something distinctive, these are a must-order! You can choose how thoroughly the beef is cooked. We went with medium-rare, and the meat was tender, fresh-tasting, and pleasantly chewy.I later learned that this is actually a distinctive way of eating BBQ in Guangxi! The lightly grilled beef is mixed with sauce and salmon roe, creating a surprisingly unique combination of textures and flavors. It was definitely a new and exciting experience for me!

The beef is paired with a signature sweet-and-sour sauce. Squeeze a little fresh lime juice over it 🍋, then dip it in scallion oil and mustard for an unusual combination of flavors. The taste is bold and a little unexpected, but I personally enjoyed it!

I later came across some online reviews suggesting that ordering the beef medium-well comes with less sauce. So, if you're not a big fan of sauces or prefer the natural flavor of the beef, you might want to give that doneness a try instead.

🏆 Grilled Meat Skewers

We also tried the perilla chicken, pork belly, and New Orleans-style chicken thigh skewers. These were fragrant and juicy, and slightly sweet( this hint of sweetness is actually a signature characteristic of Guangxi-style BBQ), without feeling too greasy.

The ribs, on the other hand, were a little dry and somewhat difficult to chew. Even so, the grilled meats were generally aromatic and flavorful.

🏆 Guangxi-Style Sweet-and-Sour Tossed Noodles 🍜

If you enjoy sweet-and-sour flavors, you'll probably love this dish. It comes with shredded carrots, cucumber, peanuts, and a sweet-and-sour sauce. The noodles are served cold, making them especially refreshing and tasty.

📚Overall Experience

Overall, I had a very good experience here. The restaurant offers distinctive Guangxi-style flavors while also doing a great job with familiar BBQ dishes. If you're looking to try something different from the usual barbecue options in Shenzhen, this place is worth checking out! 👍

I also appreciate that the owner seems to have his own principles when it comes to running the restaurant. There's a sign outside stating that loud and disruptive customers aren't welcome, as the restaurant is located in a residential area. I think that's a thoughtful touch — it's a nice way to respect the neighbors and maintain a more comfortable dining environment for everyone.
