After 20 years, I finally got to enjoy Dairy Queen ice cream again today! 🍦
DQ was once a very familiar name in Shenzhen. Back then, there weren’t nearly as many international ice cream brands as there are today, so seeing a DQ store felt much more special.
Since I happened to have a free coupon today, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to revisit a familiar taste from my childhood.

🍨 I ordered their three-scoop Red Velvet ice cream.
To be honest, the portion is huge! Unlike some ice cream cones that are only partially filled, DQ packs the ice cream all the way down to the crispy cone. There’s no empty space in the middle, just solid ice cream from top to bottom. 👍
The ice cream itself is rich and smooth, with a nice overall quality. It does melt quite quickly, though, so I had to take several big bites in a row before it started dripping everywhere. 😆
💁 The staff member who served me was friendly and patient. The store was clean and tidy, and there were also plenty of ice cream cakes 🍰 on display.
📚Overall Experience
Overall, I enjoyed the ice cream, and the portion was definitely generous. However, this store was noticeably quieter than the other ice cream brands nearby.
If I didn’t already have memories of Dairy Queen from many years ago, I probably wouldn’t have thought to try it again. So while the ice cream itself is pretty good, I feel the brand could do more to promote itself and attract younger customers. Still, getting to enjoy DQ again after 20 years was a pretty nostalgic experience for me. ❤️
