If you’ve lived in Shenzhen for a long time, chances are you’ve heard of or eaten at Xin Tai. Back when there weren't quite as many dining options in the city, Xin Tai was considered one of the top Thai restaurants around.
Five years later, I decided to revisit this long-established Thai restaurant. To be fair, the food quality is still quite good — but there are also a few things that have changed my impression.

🏆 Pineapple Fried Rice 🍍
A must‑order dish loved by both adults and kids.The ingredients are generous — shrimp, squid, pork floss, raisins, and pineapple. Savory, slightly sweet, and very appetizing.
🏆 Curry Shrimp
You absolutely need a bowl of white rice to go with this curry. The aroma is incredible ♨️, and the shrimp are large, well-deveined, and full of flavor. Even the shrimp heads tasted fresh, without any unpleasant smell.
What I especially loved was the thick, rich curry sauce. It has a wonderful balance of sweet, spicy, and savory flavors, and it’s so delicious that you'll probably want to spoon every last bit of it over your rice. 🍛
✅ Pork Neck Meat
I didn’t try it myself, but others at the table said it was good.
✅ Tom Yum Soup
Very warming, but quite spicy 🌶If you can’t handle spice, order with caution.
✅ Water Spinach
Standard, nothing special. At nearly ¥50, this was probably the least worthwhile dish of the meal in terms of value.
📚Overall Experience
Overall, the food quality is still solid, and the dishes remain fairly consistent. The pineapple fried rice and curry shrimp were the highlights for me, while the other dishes were decent but less memorable.
🙅 The biggest downside, however, is the price. We paid over ¥530 for five dishes, and one of them was simply a vegetable dish. At that price point, I think Xin Tai is no longer as good a value as it used to be.
If the prices were a little more affordable, I think it would be much easier to recommend this restaurant as a regular dining spot.
