In Shenzhen, you’ll find plenty of Hong Kong-style cha chaan tengs (tea restaurants) and bing tengs. The funny thing is that almost every one of them claims their “Wuxia Char Siu Rice” is their best-selling dish. 😂
We’ve tried quite a few char siu rice dishes in Shenzhen, but honestly, none of them really stood out to us. That was until we tried the char siu rice here. For the first time, I felt like the char siu was actually on another level.
So today, let me introduce Men Wah Bing Teng!

We visited Men Wah Bing Teng on the B1 floor of Luohu KK Mall. It was lunchtime and the restaurant was quite crowded, with some customers even sharing tables. Luckily, we managed to get a table for two right away.
We ordered their signature Char Siu Rice, along with some choy sum and iced lemon tea.
🏆 Char Siu Rice
This is easily one of the best versions of char siu rice I’ve had. Many places make their char siu too sweet, or the meat ends up being tough and dry. But here, the char siu is thick-cut, tender, juicy, and perfectly balanced between savoury and sweet.
It was absolutely delicious, and I highly recommend giving it a try! 👍

However, the choy sum and iced lemon tea were pretty standard. Nothing particularly special, but both were perfectly fine.
📚 Overall Experience
This is definitely a place I’d happily return to, mainly for the char siu rice. The restaurant itself is also comfortable, with plenty of tables for two, and the service was friendly and attentive.
If you’re visiting Shenzhen for the first time and only have a limited amount of time, I’d recommend trying a more classic Cantonese meal instead. Char siu rice is more of an everyday, quick meal for us locals, rather than a traditional Cantonese dining experience.
One thing to keep in mind is that the char siu rice here is also a little more expensive than at many other cha chaan tengs. It costs around RMB 49 here, while similar dishes at other places can be around RMB 35–39. So, for office workers or anyone looking for an affordable everyday meal, it’s not exactly the most budget-friendly option.
But if you’re curious and want to give it a try, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that! If you happen to be around Luohu, this is definitely a good place to stop by for a tasty plate of char siu rice.
