A well‑known Japanese restaurant (Yi Le Shi Tang) that has been extremely popular in Futian District has finally opened a new branch in Luohu. It was even featured on TVB, which naturally raises the question: is it really as good as people say?

📍 Practical Information

Overall, the flavors truly live up to the reputation. We tried their two‑person set meal, and the portion size was surprisingly generous.

🏆Eel Taco
One of the standout items is the eel taco. It comes in a generous portion, with a long piece of grilled eel laid across the top. Inside, you’ll find tempura, fish roe, pork floss, and other crispy elements, creating a rich and layered texture. The sweet-savory flavor is appetizing and well-balanced.
However, it can be a little messy to eat. The taco tends to fall apart when you bite into it, so be prepared for some sauce and filling to end up on your hands or around your mouth.
We also tried the salmon taco, but unfortunately, it wasn't nearly as flavorful as the eel version. The salmon itself was quite bland, so between the two, I would definitely recommend the eel taco over the salmon one.

🏆Crab Stick & Mashed Potato Tartare
This dish is another pleasant surprise. A mashed potato tart base is topped with crab sticks and sweet salad dressing, creating a soft, creamy, and satisfying bite. Simple but delicious.

✅Beef Belly Rice Bowl
The beef belly rice bowl comes with a generous amount of meat, paired with egg and sauce that enhance the rich, savory flavor. It also includes a side of soup, making it a hearty and comforting option.

✅Drinks: Green Grape Sparkling Water & Calpis
The Calpis is fairly standard, while the green grape sparkling water certainly looks pretty. The pale, translucent color almost makes it look like a glass of white wine. It’s refreshing and lightly sweet, but I wouldn’t recommend eating the grapes inside for they don't have much flavor.
Overall, the drinks were fine, but neither was particularly memorable.

📚Overall Experience
The food is creative, visually appealing, and thoughtfully presented. The presentation is definitely one of the restaurant’s strengths, and I really appreciate how much creativity goes into the dishes. While the flavors are generally good, I think there is still some room for improvement, especially with certain dishes like the salmon taco and the drinks.
Service is attentive and accommodating, and the interior has a strong Japanese atmosphere, with plenty of charming details throughout the restaurant.
The restaurant still attracts plenty of customers, and there can be a queue during busy hours. Overall, I think it’s a good choice for a meal with friends or family, and the creative presentation also makes it a fun option for a date.
