Guangxi-Style BBQ in Shenzhen: Unique Grilled Beef Skewers & Sweet-and-Sour Noodles

As someone from Guangdong, I always assumed that BBQ across China was pretty much the same, with the main differences being whether it was spicy and what ingredients were used. But my recent visit to this Guangxi-style BBQ restaurant completely changed my mind and opened my eyes to a whole new world of regional flavors.

Wu Zhuang Jiangsu & Zhejiang Cuisine at Yitian Holiday Plaza Pingshan, Shenzhen

To be honest, I rarely come to Pingshan. Most of the time, I only come here when my friends bring me, mainly because it’s quite far from the central areas of Shenzhen. Today was no exception—I came here because my bestie brought me along.

Yudu Laowei Seafood Noodles at Zhuoyue Center: A Review of the New Noodle Shop

There’s a new noodle shop on B2 of One Avenue ! When I first noticed the restaurant, I saw “Michelin” featured prominently in its advertising. To be honest, I initially assumed it was just a marketing gimmick. But I later heard that the restaurant has actually received Michelin recognition in Shanghai, which made me curious to see whether it could still live up to that reputation after coming to Guangdong.

Bantian Vanke Plaza Beef Hotpot|Best Beef Meatballs, Sweet Soup Base & Group Dining in Shenzhen

Cheryl Kong | 2026-09-28

To be honest, I’ve already visited this beef hotpot restaurant twice. This time I brought my bestie along—she’s very picky about beef, yet even she admitted the flavor was impressive.

📍 Practical Information

Name of the Shop: Chaoniuzhuang Chaoshan Beef Hotpot (潮牛庄潮汕牛肉火锅店)

Location: 5th Floor, Vanke Plaza, Bantian

Nearest Metro Station: Bantian Station, Exit D

Price: ¥80 per person

Opening Hours: 11:00–22:30

The restaurant is right next to the cinema, making it perfect to enjoy hotpot before or after a movie.

🏠 Environment

The restaurant is spacious, with plenty of seating and private rooms available—ideal for group gatherings.💖

The sauce selection is extensive, including black tea sauce, XO sauce, homemade chili paste 🌶, and classic dipping sauces.

🍲 Food Experience

💁 The soup base was refreshingly sweet, with white radish, bitter melon, and sweet corn (super delicious 👍 and great for balancing the richness of the meat).

🏆 Highly Recommended: Beef Meatballs

Chaoshan beef meatballs are famous across China for their springy texture and juicy burst—be careful when biting into them! The ones here are clearly made through repeated pounding, giving the meat a firm, compact consistency. The flavor is rich and aromatic, leaving a lingering aftertaste that’s truly unforgettable.

The beef itself was tender and flavorful, especially when paired with dipping sauces.

The beef brisket is best simmered longer—the lean parts become incredibly soft, while the firmer cuts stay too chewy. To be honest, though, I found the flavor of this part quite average.

🥬 The vegetable platter was diverse: watercress, water spinach, baby cabbage, lettuce, enoki mushrooms, chicken mushrooms, and other varieties 🍄—perfect for balancing the heaviness of the meat.

📚 Overall Experience

Overall, the flavors were good, with an average spend of about 80 RMB per person. The air-conditioning was strong, so you won’t end up sweating while eating.

To be honest, the set meal here is quite similar to what you can find at many other beef hotpot restaurants, and the flavors are not particularly different either. Still, it’s still a solid option if you’re at Vanke Plaza and looking for a casual beef hotpot meal. 👍
