FunFun Restaurant in Shenzhen Xiasha: Cozy Boho Dining With Must‑Try Signature Dishes

Unlike Hong Kong, where restaurants tucked away inside office buildings are fairly common, Shenzhen doesn’t have quite as many. If I hadn’t come across this restaurant online, I probably would never have known it existed. Luckily, the food turned out to be surprisingly good, and the open-air terrace felt almost like a little garden in the sky, a peaceful place to escape from the busy city and unwind after work.

Gaga XianYu Western Dining in Huaqiangbei: Honest Review of Food Quality, Ambience, and Value

Cheryl Kong | 2026-08-23

Gaga XianYu is one of the earlier established restaurant brands in Shenzhen and has maintained a solid reputation over the years. Known for its light‑meal concept, the dishes are presented with care and attention to detail. However, the prices are relatively high, and many people feel that the value for money is not ideal.

This time, I visited the Gaga Fresh branch in Huaqiangbei again with my bestie. I used to work in this area and had eaten here several times before, and I always had a good impression of the place. I still remember their ¥9.9 tomato meat sauce pasta promotion — it was such a good deal! So I was actually quite surprised by how different this visit felt.

📍 Practical Information

Name of the Shop: Gaga XianYu (Gaga 鲜语)

Location: 深圳市福田区中航城君尚购物中心C区L2层;C Zone, Level 2, Junshang Shopping Center, Zhonghang City, Futian District, Shenzhen

Nearest Metro Station: 1号线华强路站出入口步行200米;Huaqiang Road Station (Line 1), Exit B — about 200 meters on foot

Price: ¥80 per person

Opening Hours: 10:00–22:00

🌲Environment

The ambience, however, remains exceptional. The space is quiet, elegant, and comfortable, with a refined atmosphere. The restaurant overlooks the outdoor plaza, where flocks of pigeons often fly past🕊️, creating a surprisingly poetic and relaxing scene.

🥖Food

The food, on the other hand, was fairly average and felt like a step down from what I remembered.

The plum green tea had an excessive amount of foam, which I personally didn't like(There seemed to be quite a lot of agitation when preparing the drink, even though I don't think a drink like this really needs to be stired that much.) The flavor was also quite unusual — a strange combination of sweet and salty notes that I personally didn't enjoy.

The signature fruit tea, made with fruits such as pineapple, orange, and watermelon, looked quite appealing when it arrived. Unfortunately, the taste was just average. It tasted like a fairly standard fruit tea without much depth or complexity.

🍝The spicy seafood pasta came with plenty of ingredients, but the noodles themselves lacked depth of flavor and were not as rich or well‑seasoned as expected.

🍰The matcha yuzu Basque cheesecake was the highlight of the meal. I personally enjoyed it — refreshing, fragrant, and wonderfully creamy with a melt‑in‑your‑mouth texture. However my bestie thought it tastes kind of strange.

📚Overall Experience

The main dishes were unimpressive, and the value for money felt mediocre compared to the past. For this reason, I would recommend Gaga Fresh more for afternoon tea rather than a full meal.

🧑‍⚖️Final verdict:

Food ⭐⭐⭐

Atmosphere⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Service ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Value ⭐⭐⭐

Overall ⭐⭐⭐½
