While Shenzhen famous shopping mall UpperHills has plenty of great restaurants, few offer such exceptional value as MUJI Diner❗️Today I finally visited MUJI Restaurant after hearing so many good things, and the experience truly lived up to the hype. The atmosphere is incredibly comfortable and calming.

🌿 Environment
The restaurant follows MUJI’s signature natural wood aesthetic. The overall vibe is warm and cozy, with wide cushioned seats. You’ll find round tables, bar seating, wall-side seats, and even a small bar area. It’s a perfect spot for family gatherings, friends, or a chill meetup with your besties 🎉There’s also a subtle aroma in the air that feels soothing.
One smalll detial: Their bowls are placed upside down on the table—plain on the outside but beautifully patterned inside. Such thoughtful details deserve a thumbs‑up 👍
🍣 Food
I came specifically to try their classic Salmon Kamameshi.
The presentation is unique. During the simmering process, you can actually see steam and hear the crackling—almost like outdoor cooking. ⏳ It takes about 20 minutes.
The set includes a small portion of pickles and three toppings to mix into the rice: crushed seaweed, butter, and chopped scallions.Once cooked, the aroma bursts out as soon as you lift the lid. After mixing in the toppings, the fragrance becomes even richer.
The flavor is so fresh and natural, with the salmon coated in butter making it extra fragrant. The texture is layered, with bits of carrot and lotus root (I think). Since it’s cooked directly in the pot, the bottom is filled with crispy rice. this dish is perfect for those who enjoy firmer rice.
🥤 The set also comes with a tamarind drink, which tastes similar to sour pickled beans with the flavour of sweet and sour.
We also tried several other dishes, and surprisingly, they were all quite good:
🏆 Mediterranean Salad — Savory and slightly sweet, with both meat and vegetables. You're immediatly drawn to its colorful appearance. It tastes very appetizing, though the portion is very small.(16 RMB)
🏆 Okinawan Bitter Melon Stir‑Fry with Pork — Includes bitter melon, egg, pork, and bonito flakes. Shockingly, it tastes even better than what we had in Okinawa 😂
🏆 Carrot Milk Ice Cream — I only ordered it out of curiosity (I hated carrot juice before), but it turned out to be stunningly good❗️The ice cream is sweet‑tart, refreshing, and full of flavor. A delightful surprise—highly recommended.

The staff were warm and welcoming🔥 and served dishes politely.We accidentally left our phone at the restaurant and only realized it half an hour later. When we called, the manager answered immediately, which was reassuring.When picking up the phone, they asked us to unlock it to confirm ownership—another detail we truly appreciated 👍
📚 Overall
The experience was excellent, and I sincerely recommend MUJI Restaurant❗️Among all the restaurants in UpperHills, this one offers great value, consistently good dishes, and even a few delightful surprises.
