Today, I was taken to try a local fast-food restaurant that seems to be known mostly by people who actually live in Shenzhen. I probably wouldn’t have discovered it on my own, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the food was actually pretty decent.
If you’re interested in experiencing everyday local life in Shenzhen, especially if you’re a foreigner living here, this is the kind of place I’d recommend checking out. It’s not a fancy restaurant or a trendy foodie destination, but simply a long-established local spot where people come for an affordable and satisfying meal.

🌳 Old‑Style Décor but Clean and Comfortable
The moment I walked in, I could tell this was a long-established restaurant. The décor is definitely a little old-fashioned, but everything was clean, tidy, and well maintained.
The large windows let in plenty of natural light, making the restaurant feel bright and comfortable. If you visit in spring, you may even be able to see a tree outside covered in beautiful purple-red blossoms, which adds an elegant and peaceful touch to the otherwise very ordinary local setting.
🥟 Signature Soup Dumplings
I ordered their signature soup dumplings. They were juicy, with thin wrappers and plenty of flavorful meat inside. The dumplings were tasty without being overly heavy, so I could easily eat several of them without feeling too full.
🍛 Classic Rice Plate with Perfect Wok Hei
I also tried one of their rice plates, which came with dry-fried green beans and braised beef brisket with tofu.
What I particularly liked was the wok hei — that smoky, slightly charred aroma you get from high-heat stir-frying. The seasoning was also well balanced, making the whole dish simple but satisfying.

Their desserts are also said to be quite good, but I was already too full to try them this time, so I guess I have an excuse to come back. 😂
For a long-established local fast-food restaurant, I thought the prices were very reasonable. A meal for two cost us only around RMB 60–70, and the restaurant was clean, comfortable, and pleasantly unpretentious.
If you’re a foreigner living in Shenzhen and want to experience the kind of everyday food locals actually eat, I think this is a place worth trying. It may not be the most exciting-looking restaurant in the city, but sometimes these ordinary local spots give you a more authentic glimpse into daily life in Shenzhen.
